Public hospital waiting times

Dear valued patients,

While hospitals are back to normal capacity public hospitals are still under strain due to staffing issues and increased demand. This may lead to large blowouts in waiting times especially for colonoscopies. We continue to work closely with the hospitals to keep waiting times to a minimum but the management of the waitlist is done by the public hospital. 

It has come to our attention that patients are being told by some staff that waiting times are determined by the doctors. This is NOT the case. This information id not endorsed by the General manager of Bankstown Hospital. Waiting times are purely determined by clinical need and allocation of resources by the public hospital. If it was up to us, all patients would be treated asap.

If you are on the waitlist and your symptoms change or you are concerned about the waiting times please let either us, your GP or the hospital know.
